This new course is designed for primary school teachers, enthusiastic parents with a music background or community-based musicians, who would like to create and run their very own Junior Music Ensemble or Primary School Music Project.
In this concise 4-week course, you’ll dive into the nuts and bolts of a successful step-by step approach to bring your Junior Music Project or Ensemble to life!

Tutors
Ciara Cavanagh
Ciara is a freelance violinist and music educator. She regularly performs with orchestras and quartets across Ireland and plays with a number of indie bands.
She has many years experience teaching violin and piano, in both individual and group settings. She has tutored the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and Dublin Youth Orchestras, and worked with the Young Irish Strings.
Ciara co-founded the 'Offbeat Ensemble', an adult community orchestra based on the Northside of Dublin in 2013, and co-directs the group. She currently teaches in a number of strings projects in the Dublin area, including St. Peter’s Primary School, Phibsboro, St. Finian’s N.S. Finglas Strings Project and the summer camp in St. Agnes Violin and Orchestra project, Crumlin.
Ciara is a creative producer and project manager who has worked with an extensive range of musicians and artists, such as Dublin Contemporary, The Trailblazery, Pop Up Productions, Body and Soul, Kilkenny Arts Festival, Kaleidoscope Night, Camerata Kilkenny, the Barrow River Arts Festival, City Spectacular, IMMA, Sundays at Noon concert series at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Ficino Ensemble, Evlana Ensemble and the Irish Baroque Orchestra. She holds a BA hons in The History of Art from Trinity College Dublin, and an MA in Cultural Management from The University of Catalonia, Spain.
Prerequisites
Participants must:
- Be a minimum of 18 years old
- Ideally have some previous experience in teaching music/an instrument
- Be able to read sheet music reasonably well.
