Description

ADULT DIVISION CLASSICAL PIANO GROUP CLASSES

Adult Division Group Classes for Classical Piano are available for the following levels: Novice / Beginner / Intermediate

- NOVICE level (i.e. intended for Adult learners who would like to learn piano, but have had no previous lessons or exposure to the instrument.)

After completion of one Adult Division Group Classes term of 12 x 60 minutes of "NOVICE" level classes, continuing AD Group class participants would usually enter a Beginner Level class:

- Beginner level 1 (i.e. intended for true beginners who require working on the basics, while slowly adding new techniques & simple pieces).

- Beginner level 2 (i.e. intended for continuing learners with previously attended Level 1 lessons, who continue learning new techniques & pieces up to Grade 3)

Following this initial progression, any further progression to higher levels, for new or continuing learners, is subject to teacher evaluation/approval.

- Intermediate level (i.e. intended for continuing learners with further developed skills from Grade 4 - 6) - Participants attending Intermediate level classes might be asked to attend specific groups Intermediate I / II, for streaming purposes.

What are AD Group Classes?

AD Group classes are designed to ensure that your learning outcomes are based upon your experience when you begin, and what you wish to achieve during your course of study.

There are no mandatory exams or assessments as part of the Adult Division group classes. However, exams or assessments can be planned together with your tutor and prepared for during each running term.

Group class participants can look forward to an expert tutor leading their classes, as well as a supportive learning environment through peer to peer learning.

Possible class concerts will present fun and motivational challenges for you and your study colleagues.

Join like-minded adult learners today in exploring your passion for music performance, no matter what level or experience you have.

Class Times, Duration and length of term:

Testimonials

I returned to the piano after 50 years and arrived at my first Adult Division Group Class hoping to improve my technique, to make the pieces that I had revisited, sound as they should. I was made aware of some bad habits that had formed in my playing, through the patience and advice from my wonderful tutor. This has been such an enjoyable journey and useful activity and has also opened my mind to other styles of playing through listening to and learning from the other students in my group. I look forward to returning to classes in September. (Participant Spring 2025)

It was nice to be with a group of like-minded beginners. The structure and pace of the course were encouraging and enjoyable. I am glad I took the step to participate in the course. I encourage others, who have an interest, to do likewise. (Participant Spring 2025)

I very much enjoyed the piano lessons with our teacher, his style of teaching piano is the best. I did find my confidence a bit tricky in the first few months and he has helped me overcome this through my lessons. He also encouraged me to go to the AD Theory classes at RIAM, which were a big help. I also participated in the end-of-term concert, which helped to break the ice, playing in front of people. Thank you! (Participant Spring 2025)
