Tutors
Alex Rosenberger
Alex is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and classically-trained pianist who holds a first-class honours master’s degree in Music and Media Technology from Trinity College Dublin.
Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Alex took classical piano lessons from the age of six and intensively honed her skills at the instrument for well over a decade. She soon harboured a keen interest in more styles of music, so she began to teach herself guitar, drums, bass guitar and ukulele in her teens, and also began vocal training at this time. She soon discovered and explored the unique qualities of her voice and, having moved to Ireland, continued this journey with specialised vocal work under the guidance of critically acclaimed vocalist Michelle O’Rourke.
Although Alex’ original academic background is in English Literature, her passionate musical endeavours in composition and music production, (specifically with her project ‘Holylight’), have enabled her to move to Dublin in 2022 and pursue the aforementioned M.Phil. at Trinity College Dublin with backing from the Max Weber-Programm, operated by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Under the guidance of critically acclaimed composers Dr. Ann Cleare and Dr. Enda Bates, Alex’ master’s project was centred around the unconventional use of vocals in a VR performance environment, and she graduated from Trinity College with first class honours in 2023.
Ever since then, Alex has been recording, releasing and performing music as Holylight and dedicated herself to working as a live and studio drummer for up-and-coming bands like Elishka Lane, drifting. and Conor Kinsella. She also works as a part-time music performance lecturer for the Bray Institute For Further Education, as a freelance AV technician for Dead Centre and CoisCéim Dance Theatre, and as a music teacher in Mezzo Music Academy. She strives to pass on her passion for artistic expression and guides her students to gently but surely push their own boundaries, cultivating a type of love and curiosity for music that transcends their instruments and carries over into their lives.
