Leaving Cert Music Technology

Description
With the LC Practical exams likely to take place between March 31st and April 11th, the date for the LC Music Technology course is planned for Sunday the 23rd of March. In case there are any significant changes to the exam dates we may review and adjust the course date accordingly.
In this one-day course, Kim Fallen Bailey, RIAM teacher, will cover all aspects of approaching the 25% Music Technology option as part of the Leaving Certificate Music performance component.
Kim will take participants through each stage of the question, as well as give tips on useful techniques and the marking scheme involved.
Learning Outcomes
The following will be covered on the day:

Show students how to set up and input scores on 'Musescore 4'

Tutors
Kim Fallen Bailey graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2007 with an Honours Degree in Music Education and a Commendation Award for Teaching. Her work in Crannog Nua Special School involves teaching music to children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. She is also the founder and director of Ceol Draíochta music school in Donabate, Dublin, where she teaches piano and theory and provides vocal training and Grinds for Junior and Leaving Cert students.
Kim delivers the 2-year Leaving Cert Music course in the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She designed and delivers the Foundations for Leaving Cert Music 1-year preparatory course. She also developed and directs the RIAM’s e-course, Teaching Leaving Cert Music, Sets A and B.
Prerequisites
Ability:
- 5th and 6th year Leaving Certificate Music students
Tech:
- Laptop with good internet connection & camera. (for Zoom participation and running Musescore at the same time)
(NB: iPads, Tablets and phones will not be sufficient for this course)
- Free Software ‘Musescore 4’ downloaded before the course starts
- Earphones are useful but not essential
Other:
- Writing material
- Notes will be provided but must be downloaded and printed prior to the class
